What is Photovoltaics?
Photovoltaic cells are the conversion of daylight in to electricity, without the moving parts, such as used on wind turbines. Solar cells once used exclusively in space are now used to power peoples homes. These innovative cell structures are bring down the cost of electricity and allowing people to earn money at the same time.
There are many types of PV panels including PV tiles, which replace normal tiles and simplfy the installation.
How Photovoltaic Cells work
The light hits the PV panels and is converted into electricity without any moving parts, making it a silent operation. It is generated into a direct current and through installing a convertor is converted into, an alternating current and is insync with the mains electricity and used normally. The clean electricity is fed into the mains via a fuse board which is used to record the amount used. Any that hasn´t been used is also recorded and sold back to the grid. Generating not only electricity but cash back!.
Is there sufficient Day Light in the UK
The amount of energy from the sun naturally differs, depending on your location, but even in the UK where the climate is considered wet and cloudy, sufficient day light is received to power your home. Day light is not the same as sun light, which is how Photovoltaic panels are a benefit, as they generate electricy from the day light. Which is pretty much all we see in the UK.
